Programme Manager – Climate

BLAKE is seeking a Programme Manager to help us deliver our programmes in the Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland region.

BLAKE (Sir Peter Blake Trust) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to continuing Sir Peter Blake’s environmental leadership legacy. Our purpose is to re-start people caring for the environment…through adventure, participation, education and enjoyment. We do this by providing life-changing experiences and programmes that follow in the footsteps of Sir Peter Blake himself.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a full-time position working as part of a team to support and manage delivery of BLAKE programmes. The role will support the planning and delivery of BLAKE programmes, including NZ-VR, BLAKE Explorers, BLAKE Inspire, and BLAKE Expeditions. The role will also regularly deliver NZ-VR lessons in schools. Ideally, we are looking for someone with a strong background in climate science. On occasions, the role will also support and deliver public events and activations undertaken by BLAKE.
KEY PROGRAMME RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the planning and delivery of BLAKE programmes.
- Manage key programme tasks including participant recruitment, programme content planning and development, logistics such as travel and accommodation, and student and support staff liaison.
- Regularly deliver NZVR in schools, and manage NZVR equipment, as and when required.
- Provide subject matter expertise to support the ongoing development of content within BLAKE programmes (ideally bringing expertise in climate change).
- Work with BLAKE partners to ensure the effective delivery and continuous improvement of BLAKE programmes.
- Support programme evaluation and deliver reporting to funders, stakeholders and Board on BLAKE programmes and activity, as required.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute strongly to the culture of the organisation.
- Strong knowledge in environmental / sustainability issues, especially climate change/climate science.
- Strong project management skills including attention to detail.
- Ability to relate to and work directly with young people and/or teachers.
- Confident to deliver inspiring lessons to students.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key partners.
- A strong interest and concern for the natural world.
- A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an enthusiasm for engaging with te ao Māori. Strong knowledge in this area would be advantageous.
- Full driver license required.
