Jacob Anderson

Programme Manager

Jacob is a Programme Manager for BLAKE and manages the BLAKE Inspire for Teachers and BLAKE Ambassador programmes. He coordinated the science communication and outreach for the BLAKE Expeditions to the Sub-Antarctic in 2016 and to Kermadec Islands in 2018. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Earth Science at Massey University and his Master of Science in Geology at the University of Otago, where he held an AINSE Postgraduate Research Award. Jacob is a Sir Robin Irvine Scholar and is undertaking his PhD at the University of Otago. His research focuses on past Antarctic climate and ice sheet behaviour. He has participated in six scientific expeditions to Antarctica, and has been on two expeditions to the Sub-Antarctic Auckland Islands as part of the Department of Conservation yellow-eyed penguin monitoring programme and on the 2016 BLAKE Expedition.

Jacob is the host of Anderson’s Odyssey – a podcast available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
