BLAKE Inspire for Sailors 2024

In 2024, BLAKE Inspire for Sailors brought together 18 environmental leaders with a passion for sailing from all over New Zealand for a week of adventure-based, experiential learning and leadership development in, on and around the water in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

Students spent the week learning about topical environmental issues facing our country through participation and experience. They spent several days on Steinlager 2 in the Hauraki Gulf, explored Tāwharanui Regional Park, snorkelled at Te Hāwera-a-Maki Goat Island Marine Reserve and learned about marine and freshwater ecology.

Assisted by environmental and sailing leaders, scientists and experts in the field, students developed their own individual action plans to implement in their sailing clubs and communities.
