Alice Ward-Allen

BLAKE Head of Discovery Programmes

Day to day at BLAKE, Alice leads the NZ-VR and Explorers programmes, as well as community outreach. These programmes are focused on inspiring rangatahi to care for and take action to protect marine environments.

After graduating from the University of Otago with a BsC majoring in Ecology and Zoology in 2016, Alice was first involved with BLAKE as a BLAKE Ambassador in February 2016, working on biodiversity projects with Department of Conservation and Hawkes Bay Regional Council. Since coming onboard with BLAKE full-time in 2020, Alice has been involved across the programmes throughout the country, but this will be Alice’s first time participating in a BLAKE Expedition and she is very excited to be heading to the remote Campbell Island on the HMNZS Canterbury.

Alice has a keen interest in Aotearoa New Zealand’s biodiversity, and therefore looks forward to having the opportunity to experience Campbell Island’s amazing landscape and the natural flora and fauna that inhabit it.
