Ko Anthea Ibell tōku ingoa.
Ko tāku mahi ki BLAKE ko Environmental Educator.

I graduated University of Otago with a BSc in Zoology and completed my PADI SCUBA instructor training at Dive Otago. I went on to be awarded the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society’s Australasian Rolex Scholarship in 2011. This involved funding and support to travel for the year volunteering with different marine related organisations. I focused on biology and conservation, supporting sea turtle hatcheries in Costa Rica, assisting fish surveys throughout Micronesia, learning about shark tagging in South Australia and loads more.

Back home in Aotearoa, I started working in waste minimisation and set up my own sustainability education business with a focus on how we can look after our marine ecosystems. In 2020 I co-founded a BCorp certified toy company to invent children’s toys, games and activities that reduce rubbish, address climate change, and catalyse sustainable change in the toy industry.

As an Environmental Educator with BLAKE, I deliver NZ-VR in schools and throughout the community. This role ties all these threads of my interests and passions together and I love being involved in bringing these programmes to rangatahi.
