Belle Campbell

TAKAPUNA NORMAL INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Belle is a Visual Arts, Digital Technologies, and Environmental Education Specialist Teacher at Takapuna Normal Intermediate School in Auckland. Throughout her 12 years of teaching, she taught in Australia and New Zealand across all curriculum levels from Years 1 to 8. Belle’s interest and enthusiasm for the marine environment stemmed from childhood and was strengthened by studying Sustainability, Marine, and Environmental Science papers at the University of Auckland in 2021. Her inspiration and passion for teaching has been reignited and influenced by attending the 2022 BLAKE Inspire for Teachers programme.

Belle is committed to restructuring the Environmental Education and Sustainability Curriculum at TNIS with the kura embarking on the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Eco-Schools programme in 2023. As the Environmental Educator, she is fostering respect, appreciation for, and awareness of te taiao through educating and empowering rangatahi to be kaitiaki who are actively involved, engaged and informed change agents. Belle strives to build a growing understanding among the tamariki and community of the local marine and forest environments and their ecological importance through sustainable, purposeful, integrated practice. She believes in mahi tahi/working together to create a stronger, flourishing taiao and future.
