Student Voyager

Christopher Williams is a former student of Takapuna Grammar School where he was a prefect and co-leader of the school enviro-group. He attended Blake Inspire in 2020 where got to delve deeper into his interest in environmental science and marine conservation. He is particularly interested in fisheries management  and the state of New Zealand’s fisheries. Over the past three years Chris has been conducting research on the New Zealand TACC fisheries system. He has analyzed 30 government and scientific reports and interviewed three key interest groups in order to compile a list of recommendations to improve the Fisheries Act via a parliamentary submission. This was backed by a parliamentary petition he created which has 1580 signatures and was personally presented to his local minister of parliament. Chris will be debating his petition in front of a parliamentary select committee later this year. He intends to further his education overseas studying environmental science.
